It is an Architect's task not to design a home for a client, but with them. The Homeowner is as much a part of the design process as the Architect. The Architect is simply the medium through which the Homeowner works to achieve. I listen to your visions, your concerns, and your desires as we work together to design your home. The qualities of Architecture that I hold dear are arrangement of spaces, scale of space and qualities of natural and artificial lighting. A satisfying measure of achievement is to see how a family uses the home.
I am dedicated to Architecture as a unique art form, adding to peoples' lives through the art of the design of spaces. It is the well thought arrangement of these spaces that makes homes, neighborhoods and living environments. Good architecture respects the environment and its neighbors while individualizing itself to the user. The customization of a home to the family is a primary goal of mine. The design should say as much about the user as the size, quality and quantity of spaces. It is a strong effort of mine to diminish the percentage of mediocre architecture in the future of central Ohio and the region beyond. |
There is an issue of style. What is the style of Architecture today? The benefit that we have in this era of Architecural design is that the styles are blending in a wonderful way. There is a more thorough appreciation for the architecture of the past in the way that the details and the capturing of the ideals are refined. It isn't enough to match the styles, there needs to be a perfection that will stand up to any scrutiny. This seems to many to be nothing more than copying without innovation. And that may be true when you look at the style itself, but as it applies to the challenges of today's lifestyle is quite different.
A different direction of today's Architecture is looking towards the future. There is an opinion that contemporary Architecture is cold and uncomfortable. Without a doubt, this is often true. There is also the opportunity for incredible warmth. The challenge is to balance the contemporary spaces with the range of materials that we have at our disposal and do it in such a way as to capture the emotions that we have always had for our historical works. Whether you desire the timelessness of historical or the simplicity of contemporay Architecture, I will work with you and your ideas to achieve your vision. |
